Together on the Course: Inclusion Golf Tournament at the Krefeld Golf Club

Once again this year, we had the privilege of being part of a very special event: the Inclusion Golf Tournament in Krefeld, which took place for the fourth time as part of Special Olympics NRW.

Last weekend, a total of 52 players gathered, including our FERI colleague Frank Straatmann, who has supported the Inclusion Golf Tournament from the very beginning. What impressed him the most?  "There's no doubt about it: the unparalleled team spirit, the sheer joy of life, and the conscious experience of the moment—pure joy and emotion."

The event kicked off on Saturday evening at the athletes’ disco, before things got competitive on Sunday: The tournament consisted of a 9-hole round played in a Chapman foursome format, in which teams of two - each consisting of one player with a disability and one member of the Krefeld Golf Club -played the course together.

Anyone who had never played golf before was able to take their first swings during the “Introductory Golf” session alongside a PGA professional - because in this tournament, one thing matters above all else: camaraderie, openness, and the joy of being active.

And by the time the awards ceremony took place - with the newly re-elected mayor and tournament patron, Frank Meier - it was clear: In the end, everyone was a winner.

We’re already looking forward to next year!
