Note on bank resolution and creditor participation (bail-in)

In response to the experiences of the 2008 financial crisis, many countries have enacted regulations that allow banks at risk of default to be resolved in an orderly manner in future without taxpayer participation. This means that shareholders and creditors of banks can participate in their losses in the event of a resolution. You can find out more below (please note that the document is in German).
