Welcome to the FERI Corporate Forest
What Is the FERI Corporate Forest?
The FERI Corporate Forest is a long-term project we are implementing in cooperation with Planted and Forst Bad Homburg. Our goal is to make a tangible contribution to strengthening forest ecosystems and supporting local biodiversity.
Trees perform important ecological functions. They can store CO₂, help regulate water and soil balances, and provide habitat for various animal and plant species. At the same time, many German forests have been severely weakened by climate change, droughts, and pests. With the FERI Corporate Forest, we are helping to stabilize these vital forest ecosystems. Together with Planted, we plant regional and climate-resilient tree species that are selected to suit the location and planted according to clearly defined standards. These include, for example:
- the selection of high-quality and climate-resilient seedlings,
- planting during the appropriate season,
- and, last but not least, regular monitoring of the areas after planting to reliably support the development of the young trees.
Step by step, this creates a sustainable mixed forest.
What Are the Characetristics of a Sustainable Mixed Forest?
- absorbs CO₂ and produces oxygen
- filters and stores drinking water
- provides habitat for numerous species
- counteracts erosion, heat, and extreme weather
- provides recreational space for people
Why We Are Committed to Climate Action (SDG 13)
Climate change is one of the greatest global challenges of our time — and it affects the economy, society, and financial markets alike. As an investment firm with a long-term focus, we see it as our responsibility to actively contribute to a climate-resilient future.
SDG 13 (“Climate Action”) is therefore a central focus of our commitment. We support projects that achieve concrete climate protection outcomes, raise awareness of climate risks, and promote solutions that increase ecological resilience. Because only by decisively addressing climate change can the other global development goals be achieved. Through our commitment, we are helping to accelerate the transition toward a sustainable, secure, and livable future—for current and future generations.
At FERI, diversification plays a central role: risks are broadly spread to enable more stable long-term investment returns. With the FERI Corporate Forest, we apply this principle as an analogy for our commitment. After all, diversity is also a crucial factor from an ecological perspective: mixed forests are more resilient to stresses such as drought, storms, or pest infestations—challenges to which German forests are increasingly exposed.
By planting sessile oaks, we are making a targeted contribution to the development of a resilient mixed forest. The oaks become part of a broader reforestation project in which different tree species together form a stable, climate-resilient forest network.
